Facebook is an online social networking service. Its name comes from a colloquialism for the directory given to students at some American universities. Facebook was founded on February 4, 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow Harvard University students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.The founders had initially limited the website's membership to Harvard students, but later expanded it to colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University. It gradually added support for students at various other universities and later to their high-school students. Facebook now allows anyone who claims to be at least 13 years old worldwide to become a registered user of the website, even though proof isn't required.
Users must register before using the site, after which they may create a personal profile, add other users as friends, exchange messages, and receive automatic notifications when they update their profile. Additionally, users may join common-interest user groups, organized by workplace, school or college, or other characteristics, and categorize their friends into lists such as "People From Work" or "Close Friends". In September 2012, Facebook had over one billion active users, of which approximately 9% were fake. In 2012, Facebook was adding about half a petabyte of data every 24 hours, amounting to about 180 petabytes per year.

An Updated Facebook News Feed

Today we’re rolling out an updated look for News Feed so that desktop and mobile will look the same, making Facebook more consistent and easier to use across platforms.

You may recall that last year we experimented with a complete redesign of News Feedfor desktop and mobile. People who tested it told us that they liked the bigger photos and images, but found it more difficult to navigate Facebook overall. The updated design has the best of both worlds: it keeps the layout and navigation people liked, but offers bigger images and photos, as well as a new font. The current design on mobile remains the same.
Here’s what the updated News Feed looks like:

Java Garbage Collection Mechanism

Garbage collection is also called automatic memory management as JVM automatically removes the unused variables/objects (value is null) from the memory.

The purpose of garbage collection is to identify and remove objects that are no longer needed by a program. A Java object is subject to garbage collection when it becomes unreachable to the program in which it is used. Every class inherits finalize() method from java.lang.Object, the finalize() method is called by garbage collector when it determines no more references to the object exists. Calling System.gc() and Runtime.gc(), JVM tries to recycle the unused objects
No guarantee that Garbage collection will start immediately upon request of System.gc().

·        Hierarchical inheritance: It is a type of inheritance where one or more derived classes is derived from common (or one) base class. ex:

·        Exception Handling: Exception is an error event that can happen during the execution of a program and disrupts its normal flow. Java exception handling enables your Java applications to handle errors sensibly. Exception handling is a very important yet often neglected aspect of writing robust Java applications or components. When an error occurs in a Java program it usually results in an exception being thrown. How you throw, catch and handle these exception matters. There are several different ways to do so. Not all are equally efficient and fail safe.

A binary operator used to test if an object (instance) is a subtype of a given Type.

The instanceof operator allows you determine the type of an object. It takes an object on the left side of the operator and a type on the right side of the operator and returns a Boolean value indicating whether the object belongs to that type or not.

There are two ways we can do code reuse either by implementation of inheritance (IS-A relationship), or object composition (HAS-A relationship).
·        IS-A Relationship:- The concept of IS-A is a totally based on Inheritance, which can be of two types Class Inheritance or Interface Inheritance. It is just like saying "A is a B type of thing". For example, Apple is a Fruit, Car is a Vehicle etc. Inheritance is uni-directional. For example House is a Building. But Building is not a House.
It is key point to note that you can easily identify the IS-A relationship. Wherever you see an extends keyword or implements keyword in a class declaration, then this class is said to have IS-A relationship.

·        HAS-A Relationship:- HAS-A simply mean use of instance variables that are references to other objects. For example: Suzuki has Engine, or House has Bathroom.
